Sarah enjoys teaching eager and committed students of all levels.

In addition to flute fundamentals, lessons typically cover how to practice efficiently, how to create a proper embouchure to produce a beautiful tone, proper technique with correct finger and hand positions and how to breathe naturally with solid support, as well as the history and compositional theory behind a given repertoire. Sarah nurtures students’ creativity and helps ensure they always feel motivated to make music. She welcomes students’ own ideas and suggestions, loves to be inspired by her students and continues to learn from them, too!

Sarah is the Lecturer of Flute at Princeton University and on the faculty at Rutgers University MGSA Community Arts as a flute instructor and chamber music coach.

She has given master classes and workshops throughout the nation such as Carnegie Mellon University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, University of Virginia Flute Forum, to name a few. She also taught at the California Orchestra Academy and will be featured on tonebase in 2024.

She offers flute lessons, masterclasses, and workshops to students of all levels. She also offers virtual lessons, masterclasses, and lectures. For more information, email Sarah at sarahshinflute@gmail.com.
